چکیده
Results We enrolled 45 children with a mean ((± standart deviation) age of 10.0 ± 3.4 years. VIT with wasp venom was initiated in 39 patients (87%) and with honeybee venom in 6 patients (13%). Seventeen patients (37.8%) had encountered lokal or systemic side effects during VIT. Side effects were present in 41 out of 1448 injections (2.8%). There was no significant difference at sBT levels of children with (4.3 μg/L [3.7-6.3]) or without (4.2 μg/L [3.1-4.7]) side effects (p=0.303). Multivariate logistic regression analysis revealed presence of asthma (odds ratio; [95% confidence interval] (14.2 [2.0–123.5]; p=0.008) as a significant risk factor for side effects during VIT in children. Conclusion Results of our study determined an association between accompanying asthma and side effects during VIT. Patients with asthma may need a particularly high degree of surveillance during VIT procedure.

Mastocytosis and insect venom allergy.
PURPOSE OF REVIEW To analyse the association of systemic allergic hymenoptera sting reactions with mastocytosis and elevated baseline serum tryptase and to discuss diagnosis and treatment in patients with both diseases. RECENT FINDINGS In recent large studies on patients with mastocytosis a much higher incidence of severe anaphylaxis following hymenoptera stings than in the normal population ...
متن کاملSafety of specific immunotherapy using a four-hour ultra-rush induction scheme in bee and wasp allergy.
BACKGROUND Ultra-rush induction of immunotherapy with Hymenoptera venom is a reliable and efficacious alternative to the rush induction protocol, though not widely used in European countries yet. Its safety, however, has been intensively discussed over the last few years. The aim of this retrospective case study was to examine the rate of allergic side-effects during our four-hour ultra-rush hy...

INTRODUCTION Venom immunotherapy (VIT) is recommended as the first-line treatment for patients allergic to Hymenoptera venom. AIM To analyze the safety and efficacy of VIT in a real life setting. MATERIAL AND METHODS One hundred and eighty patients undergoing VIT were studied to evaluate the safety, efficacy, incidence and nature of symptoms after field stings and adverse reactions to VIT. ...

BACKGROUND Data on outcome of insect venom immunotherapy in children are rare. OBJECTIVE We investigated the rate of sting recurrence and outcome of Hymenoptera venom anaphylaxis in children of different age groups treated with immunotherapy. METHODS Data from children consecutively referred for anaphylaxis to Hymenoptera venom were collected using a standardized questionnaire. RESULTS Du...
متن کاملFacing Hymenoptera Venom Allergy: From Natural to Recombinant Allergens
Along with food and drug allergic reactions, a Hymenoptera insect Sting (Apoidea, Vespidae, Formicidae) is one of the most common causes of anaphylaxis worldwide. Diagnoses of Hymenoptera venom allergy (HVA) and specific immunotherapy (SIT) have been based on the use of crude venom extracts. However, the incidence of cross-reactivity and low levels of sensibility during diagnosis, as well as th...
